If you really want a very expensive stay, with poor customer service, food is in short supply and pay sensors on everthing in the room, then you want the Fountainebleu Hotel in Miami Beach. From the moment you check in, you are greeted by one of the most inexperienced staff in the business. My wife arrived there at 8:00am from an overnight trip from Washington State. She was on a business trip to Miami for a training seminar sponsored by her company. When she arrived, her room was not ready and had to wait 6 hours until she could finally check in. The Hotel knew her arrival time from her reservation, but pretended to not be aware. They requested that she pay the full cost of the room up front (4 nights at $* per night). On top of that, they wanted her to put an additional $* for incidentals on here credit card. $*!!!, WHAT!!! The rooms have motion sensors on everything, the refrigerator, the mini bar, anything that they can charge for. If you move anything on the bar, or open the frig for more than 20 seconds, you just purchased it. And, it automatically billed to you room. The food is tremendously overpriced. $*for a hamburger and fries, $* for Pasta and really small portion. There is no coffee in the room, but it you need that "first cup of the day", it will cost you that first $* to $*bucks of the day. If your looking for a great hotel for Vacation or, corporate fuctions that has great rooms, great service and a fair price the look elsewhere!!!

This is a place that scents the air in the lobby and around the pool. The Liv club is frequently shown on various reality TV shows and you have to be a 'pretty' person to get in. This is obviously one of the largest and more chic hotels in Miami Beach and after reviewing and visiting other hotels in the area I think it deserves a good review for its excellent facilities and staff. Overall the hotel was very nice, stylish and clean. Our room was excellent, the hotel bars and restaurants had very good service, served decent drinks and good food. The pool and beach were beautiful with nice equipment and well staffed. Overall we really did enjoy our stay. However - anyone visiting should plan on a $*day budget per person to cover incidentals - food, drinks and resort accommodations (an umbrella at the beach is $*). This is NOT a hotel for a budget minded vacation and if you go there with that in mind you will be disappointed. 4 well drinks at the Bleau Bar will run you $* (18% gratuity is included on all hotel purchases). Dinner at Scarpetta will easily run $*/pp without wine which on average is >$*/bottle for anything even remotely decent. Breakfast at the Solo cafe consisting of 1 large coffee and a sweet roll is $*. Breakfast at Vida will run closer to $*/ea. An afternoon at the beach: Lounge chairs are free, $* for an umbrella, $* for 1 beer, 1 well drink and 1 very nice sandwich. Figure $*/drink and you will be in the ball park. The mini bar in the room is similarly expensive. Don't touch anything though - after 20 seconds any item removed from its place will be charged to your room.

The hotel is beautiful, and certainly a landmark in SouthBeach. The service was a little dissappointing at times. Pool side bar tenders not very attentive. Had to wait in long lines for the breakfast shop. It was the only place to get coffee without going into the restaurant. Would prefer to have coffee in room. Or at least a "just coffee" area somewhere away from crowds in morning.

The hotel itself was fabulous, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and accomodating. What I was not prepared for was the price of EVERYTHING. The drinks at the bars by the pool were ridiculously expensive. The onsite restaurants were ridiculously expensive. $16 for one very small drink? $22 for fruit? $35 for pasta? Really? There was no coffee maker in our room, as expected, but for $5 you can get a very small cup down stairs and only if you like it black, with no cream or sugar because that costs extra. The cab rides are expensive, and only after a couple of days did we figure out that the bus was much less expensive and has stops at everywhere you'd want to go. I highly recommend sleeping at the hotel, but eating and socializing elsewhere because if you go to Washington Ave or Lincoln Rd you find much more reasonable prices.

For years my wife wanted to stay at the "Fabulous Fontainbleu", so we packed the whole family for a trip there. What awaited was a fairly nice appearance, and a management and staff from the Bates Motel. No one appeared to be over 23 years old and their commitment to service was limited. They obviously overspent on renovations, so they cheaped out on experienced staff. The front desk, doesn't have a clue as to service. Try getting a chair at the pool, not when we were there. From the pricing, it appears that they are trying to make back the cost in one year. Eleven dollar hot dogs and twelve dollars for a basket of three small crousants gives you an idea of the rip off. The best was in the room, a ten dollar small bottle of water. Beware of the mini bar. Each time you giggle a bottle, you get charged for it. The prices over all, are beyond excessive, they are insulting. The resturants are quite another story. The walk up, casual, take the food out resturant near the pool, ran out of food. Some lines took 1 hour to get to the food. They sell hamburgers, but have no catsup. They sell crousants, but don't carry butter. One day, they had to close because they ran out of food and the crowds were getting out of line. If you are used to the Hotel Maurice in Paris, or the Carlton in Cannes, or the Savoy or Dorchester, you won't be in the same league. This is a tropical Holiday Inn with five star prices.
