Started with a long sweaty and smelly wait to checkin and went down hill from there. The whole property is in long overdue need for rennovation. For example, the elevators are vandalized by graffitii with nothing done to fix the problem. The carpets in our room were filthy and threadbare. Overall the place just looks shabby. Thankfully I was only staying one night or I would cancelled and moved to another place.

I loved staying at this hotel. Everything was clean, all employees were very friendly, and it was very lively. A tram stop was conveniently located at our hotel, which was a great help and got us everywhere we needed to be. The front desk was very helpful and friendly, letting us check into our room 3 hours early, and dollar blackjack in the hotel casino was awesome.

I stayed for a night prior to attending a conference. For the price I paid ($*), it was perfectly fine. Even though I arrived an hour and a half before official check-in time, I was allowed to get into my room. I was greeted promptly by both the bell staff and the desk clerks. The waitress at the NASCAR Cafe was very nice, polite and made sure my water glass was filled. The food was hot and fresh, although way too much of it for my liking. My room was clean--new carpet, new wallpaper. The bed was comfortable and the coverings were clean. I had a nice table with two chairs. I attended the Rat Pack show, which was a lot of fun, too. My view wasn't great, but big deal--I was there to have R&R before my conference. The bathroom was worn, but everything worked fine. I do agree that the drawer and end tables have seen better days and could be replaces. The elevator was the only place I felt uncomfortable because I felt like it wasn't going to open or go anywhere. Yes, the location is far north but it's close to the Peppermill, which is an awesome local restaurant. I think people are expecting Bellagio rooms for Super 8 prices. I would stay at the Sahara again.

Over all the hotel was great. They had a great live band in the lounge area. friendly barteders and dealers. Nascar cafe was really good. Two mthings that I did not like and I strongly suggest they change is the late night specials in the cafe. They use to have great specials, since the relocation of the cafe, there are no more late night specials. The other area that needs improvement is the pool. My wife and I went swimming and we only stood in the pool no more then 5 minutes. The water was very, very dirty. It was full of hair and to tell you the truth the water wasn't even blue. The best part of the hotel and casino was in the $* area. They have $* beer, $* hot dogs, and $* blackjack. We would stay at the hotel again, we just will not be visiting the pool.

Sahara is an older hotel but it was clean and well worth considering for your next stay. Location is a drawback but the monorail is right there and will take you to casinos that are in the middle all the action.
